Vivian Mrgan has worked for the past 9 years as a school counselor with Villa Maria Catholic Charities offering counseling to students and resources to families. She has also worked in familiar settings such as Kennedy Krieger, Head Start, and Georgetown University Child Development Center. In particular, she has experience working with children with behavioral and emotional concerns such as ADHD (hyperactive and inattentive type),anger management, anxiety concerns, social issues, and transitional problems such as divorce or grief. She has also run group sessions with school-age children focusing on anger management, social skills, empathy training , and conflict resolution skills. In addition, she enjoys teaching Yoga and Meditation to children as a means to learn new coping skills, gain confidence, as well as, to discover inner strengths and abilities. Taking a cognitive-behavioral approach, she believes that providing children and families with the tools to understand and cope with life challenges enables them to uncover hidden strengths in managing life stressors. She also highly regards family connectedness and its inherent value in offering resources to families.
